Lammegien Pot merklap/ The Lammegien Pot sampler

In mijn laatste nieuwsbrieffilmje heb je de merklap Lammegien Pot kunnen zien. Ik ben een beetje verliefd op deze lap. Allereerst omdat het een Drentse merklap is, en dit is de eerste merklap uit Drenthe die ik ooit heb gezien. Zoveel als er bekend is over Groningse of Friese merklappen, zo weinig heb ik kunnen vinden over Drentse merklappen. Daarnaast vind ik het een heel charmante merklap, er staan allerlei motieven op die voor een Drentse merklap wel bijzonder zijn. Zo zie je links- en rechtsboven twee grote motten (of vlinders). En Lammegien heeft een groot schip geborduurd, terwijl Drente toch niet echt bekend staat om haar waterwegen. Verder is de merklap niet geometrisch ingedeeld, wat je wel vaak bij Groningse merklappen ziet. Al met al een heel bijzondere merklap.
Vorig jaar augustus heeft Jacob een bijzondere dag hier in Roden verzorgd en ons kennis laten maken met Lammegien. Ze is geboren op 3 oktober 1839 in Smilde, niet ver van Roden. Jacob heeft nog meer informatie over haar leven verzameld en dat kun je lezen in het patroon. De originele merklap is geborduurd met wol op grover linnen, ik denk iets van 10 draden/cm. En hoewel ik de achterkant niet heb laten zien, kan ik wel zeggen dat Lammegien niet ee heel nette borduurster was.
Garens en stof
Je kunt nu deze geweldige merklap alvast bestellen en kiezen uit een pakket met DMC garen zoals op het patroon staat of ga voor de zijden garens die wij hebben uitgezocht op basis van de DMC kleuren. Bij de DMC zijn we uitgegaan van borduren met 2 draadjes garen over 2 stofdraden en bij de zijde van 1 draadje zijde over 2 stofdraden.
Voor de stof hebben we gekozen voor Vintage Country Mocha, een kleur linnen die beschikbaar is in diverse draden/cm en qua kleur heel dicht bij de originele stof komt. Je kunt in het opmerkingenveld aangeven hoeveel draads stof je bij je pakket wilt hebben.
Je kunt kiezen uit de volgende stoffen:

In my last newsletter film you could see the sampler Lammegien Pot. I’m in love with this sampler. First of all because it is a sampler from Drenthe, the region where I live and this is the first sampler from my region that I have ever seen. As much as is known about Groningen or Frisian samplers, I have been able to find so little about samplers from Drenthe.
In addition, I think it is a very charming sampler, there are all kinds of motifs on it that are special for a Drenthe sampler. For example, you can see two large moths (or butterflies) on the top left and right. And Lammegien has stitched a large ship, while Drente is not really known for its waterways. Furthermore, the sampler is not symmetrical, which you often see with Groningen samplers. All in all, a very special sampler.
Last August, Jacob took care of a special day here in Roden and introduced us to Lammegien. She was born on October 3, 1839 in Smilde, not far from Roden. Jacob has gathered even more information about her life and you can read that in the pattern. The original sampler is embroidered with wool on coarser linen, I think something like 10 threads/cm. And although I didn’t show the back, I can say that Lammegien was not a very neat stitcher.
Fabric and threads
You can now order this great sampler and choose from a kit with DMC threads as stated on the pattern or go for the silk Soie d’Alger threads that we have selected based on the DMC colors.
As for the DMC, we assume you will stitch with 2 threads of DMC over 2 fabric threads and for the Soie d’Alger silk that you will stitch with 1 thread over 2 fabric threads.
We have chosen Vintage Country Mocha for the linen to stitch this sampler on. It is a color of linen that is available in various counts and comes very close in color to the original fabric. You can add the fabric of your choice in the comment field of the order form.

Costs
The kit with DMC threads and fabric of your choice costs € 49 euro.
The kit with Soie d’Alger silk threads and fabric of your choice costs € 73 euro.
