Hij was al aangekondigd, de Animal Crackers serie van Stacy Nash Primitives en ik kon niet wachten om de modellen van deze geweldige patronen te zien. Je moet maar op het idee komen. En het spreekt voor zich als er een paar poezen in verwerkt zijn, dan is mijn interesse al gauw gewekt.
Maar deze keer was er ook een muis bij, Monroe. Een echte heer met een keurig rood jasje. En hij kijkt zo vriendelijk de wereld in. Nu moet je weten dat ik jarenlang muizen heb gespaard. Geen echte, maar beeldjes. Van hout, glas, porcelein, aardewerk, stof, zo ongeveer van elk materiaal heb ik er wel een. De laatste jaren is de verzamelwoede aardig afgenomen, maar zo’n geborduurde muis, dat is net wat voor mij.
Het kwam er steeds maar niet van om met Monroe te beginnen, andere projecten hadden meer prioriteit. Maar inmiddels had ik al wel twee exemplaren van klanten gezien. En die zagen er zo leuk uit, dat ik besloot om toch nog dit jaar te beginnen. Zoals je ziet, schiet het aardig op. Het borduurt lekker weg, er zijn maar vijf kleuren gebruikt en dat scheelt. Ik borduur mijn muis op 14 draads Edinburg linnen met 1 draadje Sampler Threads. En als je dan over zijn lijfje aait, dan voelt het heerlijk zacht aan.
PS Miss Murphy heeft besloten dat aangezien deze muis geen bedrieging vormt voor a) haar etensbakje en b) de hoeveelheid aandacht die ze krijgt, deze muis wel in huis mag blijven.
It was already announced before we left for Nashville, the Animal Cracker series by Stacy Nash Primitives and I couldn´t wait to see the models of these wonderful design. Just imagine, coming up with this idea. There were also two cat designs involved and my interest was peaked.
However, this time it also included a mouse, Monroe. A real gentleman with his neat red jacket. And he looks so friendly into the world! You have to know that I collected mice for years. Not the real ones, but figurines of wood, glass, porcelain, pottery, fabric, about any kind of material you can think of. Over the last years, I haven´t really added any new mice, but a stitched mouse, that is really something for me.
I didn´t have time to start with Monroe, other projects had priority. But I had seen two models of customers and they looked soooooooooo awfully cute. So I decided that I would at least start in 2017. As you can see, I am making progress. It is a great stitch with only five colors, so that makes it easier. I am stitching my mouse on 36 ct Edinburg linen (flax) with one strand of Sampler Threads. And when you touch the fully stitched part, it feels sooooo soft.
PS Miss Murphy, my cat, has decided that as this mouse is not a thread to a) her food supply and b) the amount of attention she gets from me, he can stay.
